101st Day & Valentine's Day
We celebrated the 101st day of school on Friday. In the morning we did several activities such as seeing how many jumping jacks, push ups, and hops we could do in 101 seconds.

We also did rotating centers in the other 1st grade classrooms. Mrs. Gehring's made puppy ear headbands with a 101 Dalmatian spots. Mrs.schwager made Dalmatian collars. In my room we played the game "Doggy, Doggy, where's your bone?"
In the free on we celebrated Valentine's Day by having ice cream sundaes and opening our Valentine boxes.

Here are the lyrics:
It's the doubles baby, here we go, here we go! It's the doubles baby you can start with zero.
It's the doubles baby, here we go, here we go! It's the doubles baby you can start with zero.
0+0=0 Ohhhhh!
1+1=2 Two!
2+2=4 More!
3+3=6 Kicks!
4+4=8 That's great!
5+5=10 Again!
It's the doubles baby, here we go, here we go! It's the doubles baby you can start with zero.
6+6=12 That's swell!
7+7=14 Lets lean!
8+8=16 Now what I mean?
9+9=18 Jellybean!
10+10=20 20 that, that, that is plenty!

Parts of a Plant
Today we wrapped up our plant life cycle unit.
Students were able to try different parts of a plant today. Most students were nervous, but once they realized these were every day foods, they were eager to dig in!!

Our Life Cycle Unit
We have been working on our life cycle unit during Science. The first life cycle we are learning about is plants. Later we will work on the life cycle of a frog and butterfly with lots of fun learning opportunities!!
We put a bean in a Ziploc bag with a wet paper towel so we could observe it sprout. It took 3 days, but we are finally able to see it some growth! The kids were so excited to check their beans every day!

We also planted grass seed in a milk carton to see the difference in sprouting times. It took 7 days to see our grass sprout! We also put our picture on the milk carton so that the grass will look like our crazy hair!!
